Day cinco!!!!

The fifth day in Honduras began bright and early! We started out the day at the agricultural school, which is about an hour drive from El Hogar. Upon arrival we were greeted by the director Johnny and some fresh coconuts. Johnny has worked there for approximately 15 years. We learned about the Tilapia pond, harvesting of corn, the pigs, and finally got to visit the baby cows. Where some of our group were dare devils and let them chupar(suck) on their hands. The farm is about 270 acres and is much less crowded than last year. Due to the future construction the children that went to the agricultural school now attend the technical school, leaving only a handful of staff to tend to the farm. Although it is unfortunate that the farm no longer holds the energy of children, it is nice to see that it is still running per usual.
After our extensive tour of the once prosperous agricultural school, we headed to lunch. We went to a traditional middle-class restaurant; were we tried fresh fruit juices and traditional Honduran food. We slightly over estimated our hunger and ordered 10 too many dishes! We brought the leftovers home for the staff of El Hogar. For another long car ride we passed the time with some karaoke. There was much talent in the van especially when Robert rapped Hamilton for us. Our next stop was Villa Olimpica where we got to see the baseball team from El Hogar practice. One of the pitchers(a lefty), Julio, is headed to the Dominican Republic to represent Honduras and is leaving as we type. We are very excited and we know he is going to do well! After dinner it has become routine to play several rounds of soccer until bedtime. After around 7:30 a more intense game begins between the volunteer group and the older kids who graduated from El Hogar. Our night concluded with an annual game of celebrity name game. It was a close game, but Ella and Emma came out on top.As Jake said, our group has become friends quicker than any other group he's went with.
Have a good day!
